“Green Transportation”: Grifal explains the link between logistics and sustainable packaging at LIUC University conference

On the occasion of the series of workshops, of which Grifal is an official sponsor, dedicated to the Green Logistics organized by the University LIUC of Castellanza (VA) and Columbus Logistics, Mauro Crotti, our Sales Director, presented with the talk “Green Transportation: new logics, new packaging” the strong link between logistics, new materials and innovative packaging solutions.

From companies that make household appliances and housewares to companies operating in the furniture sector, from lighting engineering to mechanical components, from the water pump sector to air conditioning systems: through Grifal’s branded success stories, in which the impact of packaging on transportation and distribution has ensured a sustainable future for all partners, different issues related to the sector were addressed.

  • Negative impacts of superficially designed packaging, thus not taking into account packaging volume, ability to ensure stacking, and weight determined by the packaging;
  • Integrated approach to packaging to intercept sunk costs (disposal, environmental taxes, damage, reputation…) and maximize supply chain efficiency;
  • EU Directives and Regulations (PPWR – Packaging & Packaging Waste Regulation) to comply with to avoid the risk of going “out of market”: cutting packaging waste, combating greenwashing…
  • Green aspects: reducing emissions and minimizing environmental impact;
  • New logic, new materials, and new technologies that complement design capabilities
  • cArtù® as an ideal alternative to expanded plastics and traditional corrugated cardboard due to its innovative and sustainable technology;
  • Benefits for logistics: new packaging concepts, elimination of fillers, reduction of packaging codes, plastic-free concepts, unique standards applicable to different products.

Leading companies that brought their valuable contributions to the workshop, along with Grifal, included Coca-Cola, Ikea, Poste Italiane, P&G, Bticino, Nestlé, Alice, TRT Transportation & Territory, Ungari, and Toyota Material Handling.
