Grifal granted U.S. Patent for cArtù® technology

TheU.S. Patent Office has notified Grifal that it has been granted a U.S. patent for the manufacturing process of its most revolutionary product: cArtù®. The U.S. patent represents a major improvement to the company’s assets: it expands the patent protection for this technology, following its recognition in March 2019 by the European Patent Office.

Grifal will be better able to protect its technologies and investments made in R&D from use and reproduction by third parties. It will also be possible to acquire additional economic resources through direct management of user rights.

Revolutionary corrugated cardboard can replace plastics and other packaging chemicals

The decision of the U.S. Patent Office is a new demonstration of Grifal’s quality and technological value in the market, first and foremost to its customers and business partners, investors and shareholders.

The result of constant investment in R&D, cArtù® is an environmentally sustainable solution that can replace plastics and other packaging chemicals. cArtù® reinvents corrugated cardboard through its highly innovative features. Made with a production system that creates waves 7 to 20 mm high, it generates 50% more corrugation than traditional corrugated cardboard.

The product is very resistant to compression while maintaining low weight and paper consumption. cArtù® also has remarkable shock-absorbing properties, high flexibility and is highly environmentally sustainable: as certified by the independent environmental consulting firm AzzeroCO2, using 100 tons of cArtù® instead of polystyrene means avoiding putting 418 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, an amount normally absorbed by 60,000 trees.
